If you are looking for work
You can browse and apply without telling kent.careers anything.
Your shortlist stays in your browser. The site counts views, Apply presses and searches per day, with no one's identity attached. If your browser asks not to be tracked, those counts are skipped as well.
What this site stores
- Your shortlist: job ids and a little of each job, in your browser only, until you clear it.
- A draft of the post-a-job form as you type, in your browser only, so a phone call in the middle costs nothing.
- A cookie remembering that you hid the weekly-email bar, so it stays hidden. It holds the word "off" and nothing else, it is only set when you press the button, and it lasts 120 days.
- Counts per job per day: views and Apply clicks, as numbers with nobody attached.
- Counts of how the site is used, such as how many searches ran. Numbers per day, again with nobody attached.
If you sign up for the weekly email
kent.careers holds your email address, the town and the sectors you asked about, and the dates you confirmed and were last sent to. You confirm by clicking a link, so nobody can sign you up, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
Leave, and the address goes. An address that is never confirmed is deleted within a fortnight.
If you advertise a job
kent.careers holds what the form asks for: your name, your email address, your website if you gave one, and the advert. The advert is kept while it is live and for as long afterwards as tax records need. Card details go to Stripe.
Who else touches it
Other companies handle some of this on kent.careers' behalf. Each one only gets what it needs to do its job.
- Supabase: the database. Hosted in London.
- Vercel: the hosting, which means its servers handle every request to the site. Vercel also counts visits and page speed for kent.careers, without cookies and without anything that says who you are.
- Stripe: card payments. Your card details go to Stripe and never to kent.careers.
- Resend: sending email, so it handles the address a message is going to.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: the check on the post-a-job form that tells a person from a script. It receives the IP address of whoever is filling the form.
Your rights
You can ask what kent.careers holds about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or ask for it not to be used.
If you are not happy with how that is handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, which is the UK regulator for this.
