Class Teacher - Maternity Cover

Potential is limitless. Come and unlock yours at Loose Primary.

At Loose Primary School, we believe that potential is limitless — for every child and every adult.

Our mission is simple:

We care greatly and ensure the highest quality of learning and character development so that our pupils achieve well and become responsible global citizens.

We are looking for exceptional teachers to join our team from January 2027. But more than that, we are looking for someone who wants to belong, grow and make a difference. For the right candidate, we are open to flexibility on a start date of either January, February or April 2027.

A school where you belong

There is something special about Loose. We have an incredible sense of belonging and a strong belief that people do their best when they feel known, valued, trusted and listened to.

We want you to feel that this is your school too.

We are a person-centred workplace. We genuinely trust our staff and encourage them to develop in their own unique way. We don't want to make you into a “Loose teacher”. We want to help you become the best version of the teacher you can be.

Our values of compassion, trust, respect, pride and determination are at the heart of how we work with one another and with our children.

A school where you can grow

We are ambitious for our children and equally ambitious for our staff. Our innovative, research-driven approach to teaching and learning means that professional development is not an add-on — it is part of who we are.

You will work alongside colleagues who are reflective, curious and committed to getting better. We provide exceptional opportunities to develop your practice, explore new ideas and contribute to the direction of the school.

Our approach to assessment and feedback is built around a simple question:

Has the learning landed — and what happens next?

We want teachers who are excited by that challenge: understanding their pupils deeply, responding to what they know and can do, and adapting teaching so that every child can make progress.

Children who inspire us

Our children are articulate, curious, enthusiastic and eager to learn. They have a thirst for learning and will challenge you to think carefully about how you can inspire and stretch them.

Learning at Loose goes well beyond the classroom. Our children take part in projects, work with professionals, engage with their community and celebrate their learning through authentic experiences and exhibitions.

If you can imagine yourself helping children bring their learning to life in the community, we would love to hear from you.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a teacher who loves teaching and puts children at the heart of every decision. You will understand effective teaching and assessment, have high expectations and be committed to your own professional growth.

A knowledge of Sounds-Write would be advantageous, but above all, we want someone who cares greatly about children and wants to make a real difference.

The posts are open to ECTs and experienced teachers.

We are recruiting for one full-time and one part-time maternity cover position, both starting in January 2027. As stated, there is some flexibility in the start date for the right candidate. Although these are maternity cover posts, we would love the successful candidates to become part of the Loose team for the longer term. As future opportunities arise, there may be potential for a role to become permanent, subject to school needs and available vacancies.

If you want to work somewhere where you can belong, be trusted, keep growing and help unlock limitless potential, we would love you to join us.

Come and find your place at Loose.
